About The Pull Request
Added four new minor noble classes for the game to make the role a little more engaging, allowing people to have a little more structure to work off from if they want to.
Subclasses
Former Commander
“Through merit or inheritance, you once served as a lieutenant in the Monarch’s army, leading their forces to victory. Though your military daes are behind you, and your skills rusty, you still keep your old armour and arrogance.”
A more military focused class, which starts off with some armour and the unique title of "Baronet". They could act more like a lieutenant for the keep, but don't really have any obligations (unless called into service). They are an above average swordsman (for the nobility), but would not exactly be the most reliable fighter, especially since their armour only covers the chest, head and hands.
Magnate
“Through years of careful investment or plain old nepotism, you have managed to gather a large fortune. You have not had much in the way of physical exercise, however, but that should not matter for someone of your wealth.”
Rich! They start off with 300 mammon already in the bank, with more in their pouch. They also can see prices. On the other hand, they are incredibly unfit and overweight, making them quite useless beyond their wealth. This role could have some flexibility, as they can use their wealth to hire a lot of people or start businesses, without having any direct responsibility like the Steward.
Magickal Graduate
“You spent a large sum of your inheritance on magickal tuition in Kingsfield, though you spent much of that time drinking. As a consequence, you only took in a basic education though that still sets you above the rest of the uneducated masses.”
Slightly poorer than the other classes (probably due to student loans), but they start off with an apprentice tome and some arcane skill (just barely above that of a guild apprentice). They could assist the court mage, or just try and improve themselves if they can.
Lord Herald
"Through an aptitude for words, or politicking, you’ve managed to become the Sovereign’s loyal herald. Make sure their word is known by the commoners, and act as their mouthpiece, for surely they still have use for you despite their throne…"
This should be a decent RP role for people who want to be more involved in court as it does give you a loose responsibility. Heralds aren't really necessary mechanically due to the throne, so you do have flexibility with the role. You also get decent music skill and the title "Lord Herald ...".
Vassal
“A jack of all trades, in a field with no masters. You are the very ideal of a nobleman, not excelling in any area except your ego. Perhaps your mediocrity will inspire an ambition to push yourself above your peers, or just keep you sitting on your estate.”
Base noble, no changes.
Why It's Good For The Game
It would make the noble class a little more engaging (and likely popular) as before it suffered from a bit of aimlessness. While you had wealth, it wasn't too much, and it was hard to find something engaging each round. These subclasses will hopefully give people a little bit of structure from which they can make noble RP a little more engaging, as minor nobles to have a lot of potential.
