Designed by TheNomad for Positron 3D, the Gluon Extruder is an ultra compact Planetary Gearbox extruder that is designed using parts from the LDO Orbital style gearbox found on the Positron 3D Printer.
The Goal of the Gluon is to create a super compact orbital extruder that fits under 30mm in depth. This could allow for lightweight direct drive designs, or potentially (since the hubbb gear is free stranding) one motor tool changers like the Black-Box.
This extruder is curently in conceptual state and has not been tested. If you wish to contribute, please join the Positron 3D Discord to be part of live discussion.
Please be sure to use issues for discovered problems and feature requests.
Please feel free to remix and iterate upon this design, as per the license, please be sure to linkback to the original project and credit Positron 3D.
At this time, we do not allow commercial replications of this design to be made. Why?
- This is still conceptual, we don't want commerical kits being sold of something that may not even work
- We want to try and avoid what happened with the Original Positron v3, where low quality kits were rapidly made (see Funssor).
Will this ever change? - Maybe. We want to make sure that if this is something kit worthy, it's done right.
