chore: stop tracking simulator-regenerated datasets#53
Merged
Conversation
The 409 files under dataset/example_1d/ are regenerated on every test run by the simulators in scripts/simulators/. They were already covered by the dataset/ rule in .gitignore but had been committed before that rule existed, so git kept tracking them and tests left them perpetually dirty. The nested dataset/.gitignore (which contains "* / !.gitignore" to mark the directory as deliberately empty in fresh clones) stays tracked. Summary
dataset/example_1d/that were regenerated byscripts/simulators/on every test run, then perpetually showed asMingit status.dataset/rule in.gitignore, but had been committed before that rule existed, so git kept tracking them.dataset/.gitignore(with* / !.gitignore) is preserved as a tracked file so fresh clones still have adataset/folder marker.Effect
.gitignorechanges — only the git index. Working-tree files stay on disk.git statuswill go silent for the dataset tree after this lands.dataset/example_1d/; running any simulator (python scripts/simulators/simulators.py) regenerates everything.Test plan
