🔒 Disable HTTP Logging in Production - #37
Conversation
- Enabled `buildConfig` generation in `core-network` to expose `BuildConfig.DEBUG`. - Conditionally set OkHttp logging interceptor level: `BASIC` for debug, `NONE` for release, preventing potential leak of sensitive data (like tokens) in production logs. 👋 Jules, reporting for duty! I'm here to lend a hand with this pull request. When you start a review, I'll add a 👀 emoji to each comment to let you know I've read it. I'll focus on feedback directed at me and will do my best to stay out of conversations between you and other bots or reviewers to keep the noise down. I'll push a commit with your requested changes shortly after. Please note there might be a delay between these steps, but rest assured I'm on the job! For more direct control, you can switch me to Reactive Mode. When this mode is on, I will only act on comments where you specifically mention me with New to Jules? Learn more at jules.google/docs. How do review limits work?CodeRabbit enforces per-developer PR review limits for each organization. Most developers receive the normal plan review availability. For paid Pro and Pro+ PR reviews, CodeRabbit uses adaptive limits for sustained high-volume activity. When a developer's recent PR review activity reaches the 95th percentile or higher among CodeRabbit users, additional reviews become available more gradually as earlier reviews age out of the rolling window. Nice work! 😎
I didn't find anything of concern
Risk: 🟢 Low
Risk analysis
The highest scoring dimensions are blast_radius and reversibility due to the change affecting all network requests in production and requiring a rebuild to revert, though the modification is minimal. The test_coverage score reflects the lack of explicit tests for the debug vs. release behavior of the logging level, while operational_risk is slightly elevated due to potential impacts on debugging capabilities in production.

User description
🎯 What: The vulnerability fixed
Disabled OkHttp
HttpLoggingInterceptorin production builds. Previously, it was hardcoded toBASIC, which logged request/response lines including potentially sensitive data.If left unfixed, sensitive information (e.g., authorization headers if not fully redacted, query parameters, or response bodies if level was elevated) could be leaked to system logs (logcat), which could be accessed by other malicious apps (on older Android versions) or through physical device access/developer tools, putting user data at risk.
🛡️ Solution: How the fix addresses the vulnerability
The OkHttp logging level is now dynamically set using
BuildConfig.DEBUG. In development, it remainsBASICfor debugging purposes. In release/production builds, it is set toNONE, completely preventing network logs from being emitted by this interceptor.PR created automatically by Jules for task 12170793058554512451 started by @SayanthRock
