frankly idk how much of this is gonna make it to any release of the actual mod and only god knows how much of this is translatable to optimized kotlin but i wanna do this ASAP so i don't regret not doing this in the future
also somewhere between noncanon fork releases the original feature from pull request #4 (occupancy overlay i think it was called) stopped working and idfk how to fix that
