With v0.86.0 textual released Themes, which removed some variables. DEFAULTCOLORS is no longer used. I manually added the color codes for dark/white from the textual repo.
Also adjusted the app.dark reactive to app.current_theme.dark.

Can be closed I guess, since @darrenburns provided a more sophisticated approach of integrating the new textual themes into textual-plotext
