About the PR

Working with Cami (the shader) and Evie (the C#) to give high mnemolith doses a screen effect. Also want to make the chemical have a bit of LSD/lotophagoi effect where it helps you get new powers, but I'll have to figure out how to balance it around its availability. At least at the time of writing, it's PRIMARILY intended as an RP drug.

Why / Balance

Just, you know, maybe you shouldn't have to literally take acid to unlock your brain. The term "psychedelic" literally means "mind-manifester" so I don't mind that traditional psychedelics have that effect, but not everybody wants to go trip balls and see god.

Ironically mnemolith does something similar, but only over 30 units does it actually start getting freaky. And I wouldn't call it a traditional psychedelic. Your hands are still on the wheel, so to speak, just your mind is getting plugged directly into the noosphere at high doses. It's up to the player how they wanna RP that really.

Also the shader will be cool...

Technical details

Still hammering it out at the time of writing, but I should post this publicly so other people can access the code.

Also whoever made DrugOverlaySystem apparently never expected there to be other drug visuals besides SeeingRainbows which is a little frustrating. Please review the C#.

Notably, the shader here is just a placeholder right now, and the highlight system is intended to make life around you glow but NOT through walls so it's not a mechanical benefit. Only intended to occur in high doses, so by the time things start glowing, the screen warping will be hampering your ability to see. Because of this, it really shouldn't be able to be used for mechanical benefit. Like yeah okay you could see somebody standing in the dark, but the world is bending in on itself so good luck using that information. We shall see.
