Hello, here is a proposition to merge changes which were made for the debian package.
The debian package has a low "popularity contest" score, but not ridiculously low. One may also consider that people who enroll in the "popularity contest" are most commonly power users, which do not need to use educational tools to learn Python, hence the low popcon score.
Some changes are important, like those which fix SyntaxWarning emitted by Python's compiler, for incorrectly escaped characters (mainly in regular expressions)
