Abdoulaye Diack is a Senior Program Manager at Google Research Africa 🤖. He works with a talented team of research scientists and engineers on AI research that address challenges in the Global South. Abdoulaye is a lead on the Open Buildings project, which used AI to create building footprint data for regions with limited mapping information. This project mapped over 1.8 billion buildings across Africa, South America, the Caribbean, and South and Southeast Asia. The data is used to improve Google Maps and supports urban planning, disaster response, and economic development initiatives.
