I've cleaned up the format and made the explanation more concrete, making the idea easier to understand.
I believe the improvements due to the data layout are already near-optimal.
The remaining size primarily comes from text in the repo directory. Introducing a more efficient text compressor, like the top submitters on the leaderboard, would significantly improve things, but that's far from my idea.
