My name is Akosua Essah, and I am a current junior studying computer science and engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
GymTogether is an application designed to connect fitness enthusiasts through user created workout challenges. Users mainly interact by competing in challenges, with points being awarded upon completion. The application also allow users to connect through friending, chats, and group features. This was a group project, with my main contribution being designing and implementing the chat and friending feature.
Transnational Stages is a collaboration between MIT, the University of Bergen in Bergen, Norway, and several other institutions to create set of data visualization tools meant to help historians analyze the theater productions in the 17th and 18th century Atlantic world. My focus for this project was the interactive bubble chart shown on the explore the data page, along with updates to the main site layout.
Star Battle is a logic game in which the player tries to add stars to cells in a given grid such that there are two stars in every row, column, and shaded region. My role in this group project was to implement the actual puzzle logic and handle interactions between the web api and the server that holds puzzle instances.
