π¨ Severity: CRITICAL
π‘ Vulnerability:
CoverLetterGenerator._compile_pdfexecutedpdflatexandpandocwithout-no-shell-escapeflags and without subprocess timeouts. This allowed an attacker submitting a malicious LaTeX payload to execute arbitrary shell commands (RCE) or stall the backend via infinite loops.π― Impact: Remote code execution, Denial of service.
π§ Fix: Added
-no-shell-escapeto both LaTeX engines and implemented a 30 second subprocess timeout usingcommunicate(timeout=30)with safe termination inside a try/catch block.β Verification:
python -m pytest tests/test_pdf_security.pypasses successfully.PR created automatically by Jules for task 11261639235760785875 started by @anchapin
