This PR replaces the custom highlight behavior (that uses absolute div overlays) with the standard CSS Highlights API.
At the moment, CSS Highlights API are widely available but not full cross browser compatibile. We still believe it is more useful to use a stable system that is not yet completely widespread than a less stable one
