Existing Data Sources

The following are sources of existing bathymetry data for Lake Monroe

  • USGS Topo Maps Historical maps (pre 1965) show elevation before the dam was filled Of particular interest are:
    • Allens Creek
    • Clear Creek
    • Elkinsville
    • Unionville
  • TanDEM-X LIDAR which may be of value for shallow water areas (see this article)(background)
  • 2009 Mercury Study Transect bathymetry data received via private communications

Environmental Data

The following are organizations collecting data (though not currently for Lake Monroe) that have protocols and standards for data collection, as well as maintaining large data sets:

  • NEON National Ecological Observatory Network
  • GLEON Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network
  • David White Hancock Biological Station, Murray State University
