A GitHub organisation represents a working group, a company, or a research entity. Just like a user can have personal repositories, an organisation can manage shared repositories among its members.
-
Each organisation has a name. In our case:
cnit-rass-lab. -
Inside it there are shared repositories (i.e. projects). These can be:
- Public – for open projects, teaching material, challenges, or open‑source initiatives.
- Private – for internal or confidential development activities, where GitHub is used as a development and collaboration tool.
⚠️ Warning: for projects that include sensitive data or know‑how, GitHub must not be used, not even with private repositories. -
Users are added as members with different permission levels (Owner, Admin, Member, etc.). In our case, all members are currently Owners (to be confirmed).
To join the cnit-rass-lab organisation, simply ask one of the administrators to send you an invitation.
You will receive a notification by email or directly on GitHub: click Join organization to accept.
