## [1.81.19] — 💌 Your feedback, fixed — and updates that shrug off network blips (2026-08-07)

One of Dex's longest-running users spent a day putting her whole setup through
its paces and sent back a detailed list of everything that fought her. Almost
all of it turned out to be real for everyone, not just her — so this release
fixes the lot. Thank you, Michelle. Alongside that, updates now survive brief
network outages instead of giving up.

**What this fixes for you:**

* **Putting events on your calendar works again.** Dex was accidentally running
its calendar helpers the wrong way, so creating or deleting an event failed
with a confusing error. Fixed, with a safeguard so it can't quietly come back.
* **Evening journaling actually starts when you've turned it on.** The end-of-day
review used to mention reflection and move straight on. Now it genuinely walks
you through your evening journal — and quietly stays out of the way if you've
left journaling off.
* **Ticking a task done finally updates everywhere.** Focus items on your daily
plan were written in a format the task tracker couldn't see, so completing
them never synced. Plans now carry each task's identity, and completion flows
both directions.
* **Weekly cleanup can't mangle your task list.** Clearing finished tasks used
to risk leaving behind orphaned fragments of multi-line tasks. Cleanup now
removes each finished task whole, and tells you what it's clearing first.
* **People's names link properly in your notes.** Every mention of a person now
becomes a link (not just the first), and links point to the person's name
rather than a long internal location.
* **Honest guidance when Apple Reminders can't work.** Running Dex inside
VS Code means the Mac never offers the Reminders permission — that's now
documented plainly, Dex skips those steps quietly, and nobody gets told to
reinstall for something reinstalling can't fix.
* **New installs point you to the right folder.** The install instructions now
say exactly which folder to open in your chat app — a small thing that
tripped up a lot of first days.
* **Your health checkup counts adopted improvements correctly.** Dex Doctor
was overlooking items you'd already accepted, making your system look less
up to date than it really was.

* **Older installations retry the exact foundation fetch once.** Temporary DNS
or connection failures get a second attempt inside one fixed deadline; the
bridge still accepts only the pre-declared immutable release.
* **Current installations retry a closed offline release proof once.** Dex uses
only the time left inside the original proof window, then rechecks the tag,
commit, tree, channel, catalogue, and package identity before any preview.
* **Every other failure still stops safely.** Wrong identities, changed
evidence, filesystem problems, and a second network failure are never
explained away or turned into an update.
* **Historic support still has to be earned.** This release establishes the
hardened foundation. A distinct public follow-up and one fresh complete Mac
fleet must still pass before Dex claims universal two-hop coverage.
