Since rgdal and maptools are nearing end-of-life, I suggest dropping them now. For the vignette, where
spTransform()is used, we will be changingsp::spTransform()from calling out to rgdal to calling out to sf and coercing object classes. See: https://github.com/r-spatial/evolution
