It's been brought to my attention that having a GPL license might be an issue for using this plugin inside of Firedrake (which is LGPL).
I think that to change the license I need the consent of all the code authors. @qbisi @JDBetteridge @brownbaerchen @JHopeCollins if you consent can you react to this PR description with a 👍?
