Maintain an in-memory cache of the last confirmed fiscal doc (Z/Doc number). On network timeout, query the printer's last emitted doc and compare against the cache: if advanced, synthesize the response without retrying. Falls back to amount-matching when no cache is available (first receipt after startup).
