SafeOS Design Overview

SafeOS 0.0.96 uses a modern, clean design language inspired by Windows 10 and Microsoft 365. The goal is to provide a familiar, intuitive environment while maintaining the flexibility of Linux.

Core Principles

  • Clarity — Interfaces should be simple, readable, and predictable.
  • Consistency — Icons, colors, and layouts follow a unified system.
  • Accessibility — High contrast, keyboard navigation, and scalable UI.
  • Performance — Lightweight visuals that do not compromise speed.

Components

  • SafeShell — KDE Plasma-based desktop environment with a Windows-style layout.
  • SafeMenu — Start-menu-like launcher with pinned apps and categories.
  • SafeNotify — Notification center with consistent styling.
  • SafeOS Apps — A suite of branded applications with shared UI patterns.
