Tests failing

It appears as if the CI tests started failing with 971c1e9. I don't see anything in that change that would have led to the test failures, so I'm suspecting there's something else upstream that's changed (setuptools, GitHub, etc).

The first error looks like:

The tests fail for me locally as well.

How is it that these tests succeeded previously but no longer?

The tests pass on Python 3.9 and 3.10, but not on 3.11 and 3.12. Did the meaning of support.findfile change?

Looking at the blame for that function, it hasn't changed since 2013.

Oh, god. It's worse than I thought. The reason the tests are passing on Python 3.10 and earlier is because support.findfile('cfgparser.3') returns /opt/homebrew/Cellar/python@3.10/3.10.13_2/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.10/lib/python3.10/test/cfgparser.3. The only reason the tests were passing at all was because Python was distributing those test files in their test suite. The copy of the files in this test suite are ignored. To confirm, I deleted the config files from the repo and re-ran the tests and the completed:
