Summary of Changes

Hello @lloc, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request focuses on enhancing the project's internationalization capabilities by integrating the lloc/composer-i18n-scripts Composer package. It includes necessary updates to the flag generation scripts to ensure accurate asset pathing and reflects a refresh of translation data, resulting in updated flag mappings and improved maintenance of flag-related assets.

Highlights

  • Composer Package Integration: The lloc/composer-i18n-scripts package has been added as a development dependency and enabled as a Composer plugin.
  • Flag Asset Path Corrections: The bin/flags-png.php and bin/flags-svg.php scripts have been updated to correctly reference the assets/flags and assets/css-flags directories, ensuring proper generation of flag icon data.
  • Flag Data Updates: The generated assets/css-flags/flags.php file now reflects an updated count of WordPress translation teams (from 126 to 131), includes new unhandled languages, and corrects the flag for Welsh. Both generated flag files also have updated comments regarding unused icons.
  • Build Script Refinements: The composer.json script for flags-svg has been corrected to output to assets/css-flags/flags.php instead of assets/css/flags.php. Additionally, the flag generation scripts now use basename() for cleaner item processing and adjust array_chunk sizes for comment formatting.

Code Review

This pull request introduces lloc/composer-i18n-scripts and updates various scripts and paths related to flag icon generation. The changes correctly adjust asset paths in the build scripts and the main plugin code. The use of basename() instead of substr() in the generation scripts is a good improvement for robustness and fixes a potential bug. The overall changes look solid. I've added a couple of minor suggestions to make the scripts slightly more concise.
