What's the best way to learn a new programming language? By doing puzzles! Each year I will attempt to solve Advent of Code with a different language.
Google Code Jam probably is the biggest coding competition for participants of all skill levels. It starts easily with a qualification round and progressively gets harder with each next round. Maybe one lucky year I would manage to advance to Round3 and win a Tshirt :)
