It's generally better to use the ^ or ~ to specify a version range for dependencies, rather than a specific version. This allows for patch and minor version updates without requiring a new release. Consider using ^1.7.1 to allow for compatible updates.

However, since this is a dev dependency, it might be acceptable to pin the version for stability during development. Please consider the trade-offs.
