The environmental data platform to promote education, environmental and climate protection, enthusiasm for STEM, citizen science, open data, and open source.
openSenseMap started at the ifgi (Institute for Geoinformatics, University of Münster) and became part of the senseBox project soon after. Today openSenseMap is maintained, developed and funded by the non-profit openSenseLab gGmbH to ensure that it remains freely available to everyone - without fees and without advertising.
Education and free access to knowledge and information are important for positive change in our world. Schools, research institutions, engaged citizens, citizen scientists, journalists and environmental activists worldwide use the free environmental data from the openSenseMap.org platform.
We want to continue to provide freely available data for everyone without fees and without advertising.
Your donations via betterplace.org are highly appreciated and help keep the platform running. Thank you!

We are currently working on creating the next major version of openSenseMap. It is being rebuilt using a modern toolset and unified architecture to make it faster, easier to maintain and contribute to, and better for users.
During this phase repositories may be archived, renamed or in other ways changed. Thank you for your patience, trust, and understanding!
We welcome contributions from the community to help move the platform and related projects forward. If you're interested in contributing, please follow the guidelines outlined in the CONTRIBUTING.md file of the respective project.
