There are 2 types of fields:

  • mandatory (marked with an asterisk *)
  • non-mandatory (without a sign), they can be left blank

In the preferences, there are only mandatory fields, which must be filled and non-mandatory fields that can be left empty.

Please fill in all the required information (mandatory elements are in bold):

  • Country, select the reporting/sampling country

  • PSU id required, if you are planning to submit the Primary Sampling Unit (PSU) identifier for cervids, select ‘Yes’. If you select ‘Yes’, this field becomes mandatory and part of the context, and cannot be left blank in the aggregated data level. If you don’t have this information, select ‘No’. From 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2020, the six Member States that conducted compulsory surveillance (Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden) had to report the PSU id.

Please note that following fields are meant to store default values for analytical tests, but during the data editing these default values can be changed as needed.

  • Screening BSE, select the rapid/screening test more commonly used for BSE in the reporting country

  • Screening SCRAPIE, select the rapid/screening test more commonly used for SCRAPIE in the reporting country

  • Screening CWD, select the rapid/screening test more commonly used for CWD in the reporting country. If your country does not conduct testing for CWD in cervids, pick randomly one test from the list.

  • Screening TSE (OS), select the rapid/screening test more commonly used for TSE other species in the reporting country

  • Confirmatory BSE, select the confirmatory test more commonly used for BSE in the reporting country

  • Confirmatory SCRAPIE, select the confirmatory test more commonly used for SCRAPIE in the reporting country

  • Confirmatory CWD, select the confirmatory test more commonly used for CWD in the reporting country

  • Confirmatory TSE (OS), select the confirmatory test more commonly used for TSE other species in the reporting country

  • Discriminatory BSE, select the discriminatory test more commonly used for BSE in the reporting country

  • Discriminatory SCRAPIE, select the discriminatory test more commonly used for SCRAPIE in the reporting country

  • Discriminatory CWD, select the discriminatory test more commonly used for CWD in the reporting country. If your country does not conduct testing for CWD in cervids, pick randomly one test from the list.

  • Discriminatory TSE (OS), select the discriminatory test more commonly used for TSE other species in the reporting country

Once all the fields are completed (at least the mandatory ones), the Data check column change its message to OK in green. Continue the first configuration process by clicking the Save button at the bottom of the window to save the preferences

The diagnostic protocols are assumed not to vary that much within a country. For this reason, the selected values will be used as pre-filled values during the data entry, in order to speed up the creation of the reports. In any case, it is possible for the data provider to modify the selected test at any time during the data reporting.

The different testing schemes for BSE, scrapie and CWD are described later in at: Testing schemes. The list of available analytical methods have been generated in consultation with the EURL.
