Submitting a URL

Website

1. Access the website at the url of the service.
2. Select the desired dashboard from the list.
3. Paste your url of choice to the textbox. (Please note: this system only supports sites that can be reached through http or https protocol.)
4. Submit your request.

Confirmation

After submitting your request, a confirmation message will show up on your browser. The message will be one of the following:

1. Success!
2. Fail (see "Troubleshooting" below)
3. Selected screen is offline! (see "Troubleshooting" below)

Troubleshooting

Fail Error Message

If you received the fail error message, please check if the url loads properly in your browser. One of the reasons could be that the requested website is unavailable or the submitted url was mistyped. Tip: For displaying gifs from Google search please choose 'copy this image' option instead of 'copy link'.

Dashboard Is Offline

In case of a "dashboard is offline", please refresh the website and check if the device connected to the LCD screen is plugged in. If the device is turned off or unplugged, plug it in and restart the (slave program)[link to set up here]. After startup, the device should automatically appear in the list of available dashboards. (Don't forget to refresh the webpage!)

HipChat

1. Enter the HipChat room dedicated to this service.
2. Tag the bot with the message hello to see its introduction and help message.
3. Tag the bot with the message info to see the list of available dashboards.
4. Submit you request tagging the bot with the message post dashboard_name url (Please note: this system only supports sites that can be reached through http or https protocol.)

Confirmation

After submitting your request, a confirmation message will show up on HipChat saying that the url is being post to the chosen dashboard. Then the bot will confirm if posting the submission was successful. The message will be one of the following:

1. Success!
2. Error while sending POST request and the error message.
