Unrelated to an open issue, I have specific approval to work without an open issue from @raclim as part of the Open Source Internship.

Changes:

  • updated the accessibility docs to include color related accessibility guidelines and more resources. Added a disclaimer and adjusted the formatting to cover multiple areas of accessibility.

I have verified that this pull request:

  • has no linting errors (npm run lint)
  • has no test errors (npm run test)
  • is from a uniquely-named feature branch and is up to date with the develop branch.
  • is descriptively named and links to an issue number, i.e. Fixes #123

Sorry for the delay on this (It's been a bit hectic but should be able to give a closer look at this by early next week)!

Also wanted to update that I think it'd be cool if you'd also like to add a URL to the Contrast Palette Checker you created to the Contributor Docs! Do you think that might be something you're down with or would make sense here?

Hey Rachel! No worries. Yes I think the URL would make sense here. Do you think the images would still make sense to have hosted on the wiki?

If I wanted to add that in, would I create a new pull request?

Thanks so much for your patience and sorry for the delay on this!

Hmm, I think we can still have the images on the wiki for now! You can also continue to update this PR to add anything in!

Added a link to the color palette checking tool that I made

Ok cool! I added a link to the color palette checking tool. I am not sure how to add something to the wiki but maybe we could email about that to keep this thread from getting too off-topic?

@Izzy-Snyder sorry for the delayed response on this! that sounds good to me—maybe we can schedule to hop on a quick call if you're down to walk through it?

Since it's been here for a while and I think the content here provides a good start on introducing a gateway into web accessibility in the docs and PR template, I'm going to merge this in!

As discussed—definitely open to any changes and fleshing this out further and this gets more visibility and folks engage with it!
