Thanks for the pull request but we definitely don't want to do that now.
Derby is the only one at the moment that is problematic and I can't say it's widely used.

We might consider moving to 21+ in Quarkus 4 that we hope to release late last year but there's little chance we will do it before that.
Except if key components start being very aggressive in their requirement.

That being said, it would be useful to keep the branch around as you seem to have put some efforts into this.

Yeah I intended this to be more of a proof of concept than something to merged anytime soon
