SMA Actuator

I start to study soft robotics, and I would like to inquire if I could simulate the SMA Actuator in the SOFA

I moved this thread as a "Technical Topics" since the simulation of Shape Memory Alloys has not been much investigated so far.
As I wrote you in PM, I am not sure if there is usually dedicated mechanical constitutive laws that correspond to such alloys. But there is actually a simple (and realistic) way I would use to mimic such material.

Since SMA have some kind of two shapes depending on their current phase , we could consider each of these shapes as two different rest shapes. In SOFA, an object has its state stored in the MechanicalObject. This MechanicalObject contains the current degrees of freedom "position", i.e. current positions, but as well the "rest_position" ! By overwriting this "rest_position" data field with one mesh (corresponding to one phase) or the second mesh (second phase), you would obtain this behavior of SMA.
