Hi @MingshanHe and welcome on the SOFA GitHub forum! I moved this thread as a "Technical Topics" since the simulation of Shape Memory Alloys has not been much investigated so far. Since SMA have some kind of two shapes depending on their current phase , we could consider each of these shapes as two different rest shapes. In SOFA, an object has its state stored in the MechanicalObject. This MechanicalObject contains the current degrees of freedom "position", i.e. current positions, but as well the "rest_position" ! By overwriting this "rest_position" data field with one mesh (corresponding to one phase) or the second mesh (second phase), you would obtain this behavior of SMA. Best wishes. |
