Pathlib seems broken for Sofa LapGym Plugin

Hello Im trying to get into sofa for Surgical simulatios and tools for my university. I wanted to test the sofa LaypGym plugin on my windows computer and have followed the LapGym, SofaPython3 and Sofa install, Im using the sofa binary release. When trying to run the plugin and open an example scene this is my error log message:

please help :( I believe trying to reach the creator of the plugin seems unlikely as there is no github discussion page for the LapGym plugin. Is it recommended to instead build the project from scratch? Im relatively new to the framework but Im open to suggestions if im doing anything wrong.

Edit: I double checked and part of the error seems to be related to the loader or deformable python files using the wrong type of file, however I dont know if I should try to fix the code myself. The thing seems to be that the system is using windowspath instead of just a string.

The author @ScheiklP developed LapGym some times ago, it is therefore not up to date with the latest versions of SOFA.
However, I am sure that your fix would be most welcome on the LapGym repository.

indeed, the LapGym repository as such is more like a checkpoint for the JMLR paper.
But I do continue development on sofa_env and keep it mostly up to date.
I also published version 1.0 that now downloads the correct (v24.04) sofa binary automatically.
Let me know if that works for you. :)

Hello @ScheiklP, @hugtalbot! Thank you for your replies! I've reinstalled the latest version of sofa_env, and now the previous error is resolved—thanks! I'm able to open some example scenes now. I wanted to ask for your recommendations on running sofa_env, as I'm moving towards using Ubuntu on WSL to better follow the updated instructions, especially those involving the pyenv and virtualenv commands.

Currently, I think I'm encountering some dependency issues, as certain scenes still have bugs. I’ve attempted to manually install the missing dependencies, but if needed, edit: I recorded a video to demonstrate the performance issues more clearly: https://youtu.be/QuN6P4RcIcM

edit: aslo found some commands that ran in the scenes that were deprecated like sofaengine, additionally I get this error in some scenes:

I will keep tackling these issues, and once everything is working, I’ll try to adapt the 3D touch systems haptic integration for LapGym. I hope to contribute to help the community. Thank you!
