Feedback from Kelestra AKA EVO4 on september 18th:
Hei!
I played a game as GER (started last Thursday and 'ended' yesterday). I took ALL of Europe between 10/1939 and 10/1941 (POL/NED/BEL/FRA/LUX/ESP/POR/YUG/CRO/DEN/SWE/HUN/ROM/NOR/BUL/ITA(which had taken ALB/GRE before). The CRO event is still annoying a.f. and historically questionable. If you roll through you will paint everything YUG pink and they won't give you control of the territory... Useless... Anyway.
I wanted to talk about Barbarossa. I just mentioned the progress to point to the VERY STRONG economy I had at the start of Barbarossa. Although I was about 2 month late with my wars, I managed to conquer way more IC than usual and therefore had way more divisions/equipment than in a more 'normal' playthrough. I had roughly 25 Stug/Mot-divisions and about 110 20 width INF/ART-divisions (no mountaineers, no 30 width).
Although I had 2 month of planning, all my plans were red. As the SOV did attack me on DoW I managed to hold them a few days, till the "catched the red army offguard" event kicked in. I started Barbarossa manually and encircled about 200+ divisions (100+ div in the Carpathian Mountains, 50+ div near Riga and 50+ in the Pripyat marshes), managing to inflict about 3.5+ mil SOV casualties within 2 month.
a few weeks after that I got stuck on a frontline from Talinn-Minsk-Kiev-Odessa. Simply because the SOV had 450 divisions... Fully equipped and strong INF/ARM divisions. Not MIL or so... During the event (Winteroffensive) I had huge problems to even hold them off and did not get counter-encircled. I wasn't able to get eir superiority anywhere, as all my 5k INT were needed to hold the RAF out of my sky (they are bombing everywhere, SWE/Benelux/GER/Channel-FRA/POR/ESP/ITA/GRE/YUG/CZH).
So even with a very overpowered build and a very strong execution I wasn't able to drive the SOV back for more than 2 month. I was stopped in 12/1941 where GER was stuck historically in 12/1942, and 1500 km west of that. So wherever these additional 400 divisions came from, they seem to be worth to look at balancewise.
Did you change anything with the SOV in the last week?
If you want feedback, I can report during the week how the game went on. I will switch my tank production towards panthers right now. I will spam more INF and try to hold SOV of a bit for the next month. My numerical inferiority is gigantic and I can't win battles without lessen it.
Greetz.
