ArcKit v5.5.0 — The Enterprise Architecture Governance Harness

A brand reposition release. No functional changes to commands, agents, hooks, or recipes. The 71 official commands and 72 community-contributed commands all behave exactly as in v5.4.0. What changes is how ArcKit describes itself, presents itself, and looks.

What's new

Tagline

ArcKit is now The Enterprise Architecture Governance Harness. We stepped away from "Toolkit" because it understated what the project does, and away from leading on "Vendor Procurement" because it pinned the positioning to one cluster among seven. "Harness" is the structural metaphor that better matches how ArcKit behaves in practice: it harnesses an AI coding assistant against a template-driven governance frame.

Category positioning

We replaced "Architecture, Vendor Procurement, Compliance" with Strategy, Architecture, Delivery, Assurance. Each of those four buckets is now load-bearing across roughly equivalent slices of the 71-command surface:

• Strategy covers principles, stakeholders, SOBC, risk, Wardley, roadmap, story, framework, glossary, and requirements.
• Architecture covers ADRs, diagrams, DFDs, HLD and DLD reviews, the four Wardley sub-tools, data-mesh contracts, platform design, data model, backlog, and ServiceNow.
• Delivery covers DevOps, MLOps, FinOps, operationalize, pages, and presentation.
• Assurance covers analyze, conformance, traceability, navigator, health, maturity model, principles compliance, plus the full compliance suite (TCoP, Secure by Design, AI Playbook, ATRS, JSP-936, DPIA, service assessment, and the jurisdictional overlays).

Procurement (SOW, DOS, evaluate, score, G-Cloud) is preserved as functional content. It remains a real capability of the toolkit. It just no longer leads the positioning.

New logo family

The arc-with-three-nodes mark is retired. In its place: angle brackets enclosing a caret and a linchpin cursor. The brackets are the harness frame. The caret marks the prompt. The teal cursor anchors the AI's output. Selected from six explored directions and three grafted variants; see docs/assets/concepts/ in the repo for the full design exploration.

Full asset family shipped:

• Mark, Horizontal lockup, and Stacked lockup, in light and dark
• Banner with tagline, in light and dark (the dark variant was missing from the previous library)
• 1200×630 OG card with the new four-bucket subtitle
• Favicon set (SVG, 512, 192, 32, 16) wired into all 10 docs HTML pages
• Render script (scripts/render-brand-pngs.py) for regenerating all 22 PNG exports from SVG sources

Manual step required

GitHub does not expose the repo social-preview image via its CLI or REST API. Upload docs/assets/og-card.png at Settings → General → Social preview after the release lands.

What is not changed

• All 71 official commands and 72 community-contributed commands work exactly as before.
• All hooks, agents, recipes, skills, doc-type codes, and scoring rubrics unchanged.
• Plugin contract unchanged. No migration required.
• Generated artefacts (existing ARC-*.md files in your projects/) untouched.

Upgrade

Restart Claude Code. The plugin marketplace will pull the new version automatically.

For other ecosystems:

• Gemini CLI: gemini extensions update tractorjuice/arckit-gemini
• Codex CLI: pull the latest tractorjuice/arckit-codex extension
• OpenCode CLI, GitHub Copilot, Paperclip: pull from the respective ext repos.
