Purpose: to influence policy makers through the presentation of data, informing them of why they should change to increase gender equality. Background: The UN Development Agenda is transitioning from MDGs to SDGs. Meanwhile Gender Equality has been recognized as a cross-cutting theme across all UN efforts and agencies. One of the aims of the report is to assess the link between Gender Equality and Development in order to inform the implementation of the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
- We are welcome to find and use data from outside sources (run it by James)
- There is value in visualizing multiple geographical layers of data; continental, regional and national perspectives.
- There is value in both print and web-based translations of the data.
- Open to discussions about tailoring the research questions to suit individual creative directions.
- Mapping is encouraged; there is value in using GEo-spatial data for cross-country/cross-border relationships
- Ex. Looking at certain regions within the continent that share similar data.
- Use appropriate language and labeling when looking at negative data.
- Tell the story that the data is communicating.
- Ideally the visualization should be available/usable across all platforms.
- Any discoveries should be shared with UNDP as it could influence their report.
- We will be supplied an outline of the report.
- Responsiveness has value -- to have viability on any platform or medium.
- Structure is evolving -- there is lots of overlap in data.
- no shaming people, only present the facts.
- Access to back issues of reports can be supplied.
