● Hypotheses you tested

The cyber assessment tool (CAT) currently in use is outdated and requires improvements to meet user and administrator standards.

● Results you found

The application in use is in urgent need of updating to satisfy the needs of users and administrators.

● Photos, videos, or other media regarding your meetings and interviews

During this week’s interviews, we presented a straightforward set of questions regarding the CAT program. The interviewees included both users and administrators, with the information provided by administrators opening a new avenue to explore. While discussing the needs of the program with experienced administrators, the database used to manage the program, the interface not being intuitive, the use of legacy systems, and the lack of security were all large issues that were brought too light.

During this week we also have learned that people have different uses for the word “Administrator” causing us to revisit our interview questions to start fine tuning and also defining the roles that we have learned so far within the CAT program.

Finally with our interviews this week we looked at UX design, with UX design. The following are the results for good user interface practices:

  1. Software should be interacted with during development in order to determine what best forms of optimization could be.
  2. Never make assumptions to what end user/administrators might like or dislike
  3. Take into account all the variations of users and the technology that they have access to.
  4. Provide friendly ways to learning the Tools without reading documentation: Mini question-marks near tool features, Info bubbles when mouse is hovered over tool buttons, In-built search bar
  5. Find ways to observe the tools in use and get feedback on how useful/non-useful the features are
