Overview

Narrative

Flowthru is an open source application that aims to help organize events in a streamline manner. There is no fee to the software what so ever. This is because the application is self-managed; meaning the applications runs on the resources you provide it. The set up process is automated, so you should have your version of Flowthru running on your network in a matter of minutes.

Customer

Flowthru exists for users who want a low-cost alternative to manage their events and/or a more customized experience. Example users may include:

  • A start up may not to invest in an expensive plan to manage their company's events.
  • A University that is paying for an event management service, but the service is lacking student traffic. It would be in their best interest to host a customized version of Flowthru that is tailor-made for their student's interests/needs.

Existing Solutions

There are many event management applications out there, but their features are locked behind a paywall or lack customization. We want to incorporate features that would typically be behind a paywall and an UI that gives users the flexibility to suit their needs. Since Flowthru is open source, the community is able to contribute. This gives the opportunity for a diverse range of people to propose and create unique features.

Goals

  1. Create a platform that allows consumers to establish a destination for their communities to create & promote events
  2. Allow the integration for other platforms consumers may be using (e.g. Slack, Zoom, G Suite, etc)
  3. Strive for a well-rounded set of simple to use features

Non-Goals

  1. Implement features beyond the scope of an event management system
  2. Directly compete with cloud-based event platforms

Definitions of Success
