Overview

Users are able to easily update Solodev CMS Pro by logging into the AWS account associated with their instance, navigating to Opworks, updating the Chef cookbooks associated with the stack, changing the CMSVersion parameter to the updated version, and redeploying the Solodev application.

Step 1 -- Navigating to Opworks and selecting your Solodev stack

Step 2 -- Update Chef cookbooks associated with the stack

  1. From the stack dashboard, click on the Run Command button.
  2. Ensure Update Custom Cookbooks is selected under Instances.
  3. Click on the Update Custom Cookbooks button.

Step 3 -- Update the "CMSVersion" parameter in the Custom JSON of your Stack Settings

  1. From your stack dashboard, click on the Stack Settings button.
  2. Click on the Edit Button.
  3. Modify the CMSVersion parameter in the Custom JSON so as to reference the new Solodev version number (Solodev will provide this with your notice of a pending update).
  4. Click on the Save button.

Step 4 -- Redeploy the Solodev App

  1. From the stack dashboard, click on Deployments in the left navigation.
  2. Click on the Deploy an App button.
  3. Ensure Solodev (other) is selected as the App.
  4. Click on the Deploy button.
  5. This will redeploy Solodev and get the CMSVersion number specified in Step 3.
  6. The user will see a checkmark next to the deployment indicating that the stack successfully updated.
